    PROJECT: TOWER BRIDGE

    LIGHTING DESIGN: HOARE LEA LIGHTING

    MANUFACTURER: SILL LIGHTING

The lighting concept for Tower Bridge calls into question the way London landmarks are currently illuminated. Hoare Lea Lighting has explored an energy efficient way of lighting the iconic bridge by using the latest technology, and through new design concepts, reduces the number of fittings necessary.

For this project they have taken into consideration the negative shapes of the building and emphasised its distinctive structure. They broke down Tower Bridge's shape into its skeletal form and put the lighting accent onto those elements. In this way Hoare Lea has created a dramatic, identifiable and energy conscious lighting scheme that redefines the bridge's architecture at night while retaining its character.

In addition to this a colour treatment to the internal staircases is being explored that will add a theatrical element to the bridge.
